Growing Vegetables
Many of my customers have asked for instructions for vegetable growing, so I have put down some basics. Please feel free to send me your growing tips and I will put them on the site.
Growing vegetables is not really difficult, but it is easy to get disheartened by a few crop failures.
It's probably easier than you thought and there's nothing nicer than harvesting and cooking your own home grown produce.
A starting point can be a pot of parsley outside the back door or a window box full of lettuce. It is better to begin with a small area and enjoy the process. Digging up the entire back garden, giving yourself a bad back, going on a months holidays in June and coming back a weedy patch with fat slugs in it, is a recipe to put you off growing for life.
The sowing dates are for West Cork and you may have to adjust them for wherever you live. They are arbitrary anyway as what works one year may be inappropriate the next.
